Expletives Hopes Fleeting Against Reunited A's, 8-6-09
The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and the A’s steamrolled to domination over the CDT / Fleeting Expletives last night. What a great day!
The final tally was 28-7, and the A’s had strong production from all over the field. The strong right side of the infield/short outfield combination of Katy, Sandy, Mary and Kelly dropped a whopping 12 hits on CDT and scored 9 runs between them. When Mandy “Ass Manager” Simon wasn’t hurling fleeting expletives at just-out-of-reach fouls, her lightning-fast reflexes shut down the fleetin’s at the plate. A perfectly solid outfield manned by Toby, Will Smith, and Aziz contained CDT, while Toby came about 0.00003 millimeters from the catch of the season (great hustle there, Toby). Skip and Dan “Big” Mach held down the infield with their aggressive style. And last but certainly not least, MVP Jeremy “I’m gonna throw the ball into that other team’s infield” Caverly had 5 hits, two of them doubles, and scored every time he reached the plate. All in all, it was a heck of an effing performance.
But, as glorious as this victory was, especially since it was over former ACLUers, and current traitor Liz Banaszak, and since it was a wonderful revenge for our short, 2-inning game of a few weeks back, I’ve also got some bad news. We only have 2 games left. I know, I know. Once you compose yourself, read on…
On Tuesday of next week we square off against the Complexificationizers, of the Project Performance Corporation. The game will probably be starting at 6:30, or whenever all of you feel like showing up. Please let me know if you can come. (And if you need to bail, please try to give me as much advanced warning as possible)
After that, we have one more game, on the following Tuesday. We haven’t really been too aggressive in trying to reschedule games, but if folks really want to keep playing, I can try to schedule us some more (I know what you’re thinking Kelly, but I will try to handle the rescheduling myself. You’re off the hook). So also please let me know if you’re as devastated as I am that our season is rapidly winding to a close, and I’ll do what I can to get us another match or two.
That’s it for now. Great game last night A’s, and I hope you can all make it out next week to build off this success and/or come cheer us on. Have a nice weekend.
